~~~ ~~t/
Mazch 18, 2007
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 2I5
Denver, CO 80203
Attn: Jim Dupler
RE: Permit # M2007-009
u ? 1 ~ • ..
,/I'ialft 21101
ning anG Safety
Denver Brick Company
Dear Sir,
I am writing to you my letter of objection regazding The Denver Brick Company's
proposed mining site, The Kiowa Clay ii~ne in Elbert County, Colorado.
I own 80 acres of land directly east from the proposed site at section 20, 9 South 61
West. I am very disturbed about the proposed mining site.
I have owned this property for over 30 years. When I received notification of this
action, I inquired with the Elbert County Planning and Zoning Department with regards to
their application and discovered The Denver Brick Company's approval back in 1995. I was
appalled by this decision since I never received any notices regarding their intentions for
special planning and zoning.
I am concerned about the environmental impact, the heavy truck traffic and the
decline in property values that will be caused by the proposed site. We use this land for
grazing. With the stirring up of minerals and clay dust, this will affect the soil causing poor
grazing conditions and possible decline of acreage for grazing or any other agriculture. The
heavy truck traffic is also a concern regarding noise. A continual siege of movement from
lazge heavy equipment is less than conditional for the tranquility for which I purchased the
property for. When I bought this land it was intended to be an investment and be given to
my children and grand children to enjoy. The proposed 80 year site just directly across the
street diminishes both the opportunity for increased profits and the ability to pass along a
desired site for future building. No one wants to Live or purchase property in the dust ridden
desert.
Your consideration to our objection is appreciated.
Very truly yours; ~ e 1 ~ U~S' ~ ~e r
,., ., ..
;_ ; ~_
Helmut Sparer
4026 Lee Circle. , .
Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
303-420-0763
