Mr. Berhan Keffelew
Division of Minerals and Geology
March 1, 1999
Page 2
The most important wording of this item is "depending upon availability." The operator will attempt
to have an average of 6" of growth media where available. Attached is a picture of the profile of
Cascajo soils from the Pueblo area SCS report graphically depicting the above statements.
b. Reclamation, acreage being affected and reclaimed. Division is not clear regarding this
statement.
I can understand why this is not completely cleaz. The following may better explain what is intended:
l60 acres is the total permit acreage. A maximum of 30 acres will be affected at any one time, and
the financial warranty is calculated and will be submitted for this acreage. This is intended to be a
floating bond operation with workings proceeding from east to west, with a maximum of 30 acres
affected at any one time during the life of the operation. Reclamation will follow mining as closely
as possible so that no more than the 30 acres aze affected at any one time as workings move to the
west. This will probably involve a minimum of 5 - 10 acres at all times in the reclamation portion
of [he operation.
Exhibit G -Water Information
Division understands a fifty foot minimum setback from ephemeral drainages.
There is no setback proposed. The operation is separated from the drainages by the difference in
elevation, plus low berms of material to prevent any runoff effect to the drainages.
Exhibit L -Reclamation Costs
We have some differences of opinion in reclamation costs, and request the following attached
calculations be accepted for the financial warranty.
Cordially,
Lloyd . "Buck" Barnhart
Consultant and Agent for
Tony 1. Beltramo & Sons, Inc.
LVB/gb
cc: Beltramo
