PLS/Ac.
These seeding rates are far critical area treatment at 40 pure live seed per
square foot.
Also, SCS standards and specifications for mulching and critical area planting
will be followed. Fertilization requirements will be determined by soils test-
ing prior to seeding.
5. All mature cottonwoods or seedlings over ten feet in height are generally
located on the Pre-Hining Plan Maps. These trees will not be disturbed by the
mining operations. Additional cottonwood and willow cuttings will be started
along parts of the shorelines.
DAVIS P..4NCH PIT
6. As indicated in the letter from the Colorado Division of Wildlife, dated
h:ay 29, 1979, a number of bald eagles have been observed at this site. The
eagle population was discussed during a recent conversation with Pir. Walter
Graul, Non-Game Biologist with tte Division of 'dildlife. He stated that the
eagle population at the Davis Ranch site was strictly migratory and that no
nesting or mating would be even remotely expected. The large cottonwoods
mentioned above will provide roosting cover for the eagles. Gravel pit oper-
ations will be at a minimum during the months of PJovember through February, at
which times the oreatest concentrations of bald eagles would be expected,
7. The Davis P.anch area presently is approximately ninety percent covered by
native vegetation. It is estimated that approximately sixty percent of the to-
tal property will be affected by the mining operation. The affected areas that
are not under water will be reclaimed using native vegetation.
KOENIG PIT
8. The area that will be a"ected by the mining operation is presently in ir-
rigated farmland. All affected areas that will not be under water will be re-
claimed using native veg=_tation as found on the site along the South Platte
River and the h;eadow Is]and nitct.
If you have any questions or comrents concerning the above items, please contact me.
Sincerely,
41E TERN~~L SE RV IC- ~;r
i~
Richard L.
