(APPLICANT) McCORMICK PIT <br />THE SOIL TYPES IN THE AREA ARE SATANTA LOAM, STONEHAM FORT COLLINS <br />COMPLEX, SAMPSON LOAM, STONEHAM LOAM, AND PAOLI FINE SANDY LOAM. <br />ALL OF THESE SOILS ARE 0 TO 3 PERCENT SLOPE. <br />THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF THE PIT AREA IS NORKA-KEITH COMPLEX, WHICH <br />ALSO IS 0 TO 3 PERCENT SLOPE. <br />PAOLI FINE SANDY LOAM IS VERY DEEP AND WELL DRAINED. IT FORMED IN <br />ALLUVIUM. TYPICALLY THE SURFACE LAYER IS FINE SANDY LOAM, ABOUT <br />32 INCHES THICK. THE UNDERLYING LAYER IS CALCAREOUS COARSE SANDY <br />LOAM TO A DEPTH OF 60 INCHES OR MORE. PERMEABILITY IS MODERATELY <br />RAPID. AVAILABLE WATER CAPACITY IS MODERATE. RUNOFF IS SLOW AND <br />HAZARD WATER EROSION IS SLIGHT. THE HAZARD OF SOIL BLOWING IS HIGH. <br />BRIEF PERIODS OF FLOODING OCCUR RARELY ALONG SOME DRAINAGES AND <br />OCCASIONALLY ALONG OTHERS. THIS MAP UNIT IS IN CAPABILITY SUBCLASS <br />IIe, IRRIGATED AND IIIe, NON-IRRIGATED. <br />THIS UNIT IS ON GENTLY SLOPING UPLANDS. NORKA SOILS MAKES UP 50 <br />PERCENT OF THE UNIT AND KEETH SOILS MAKES UP 30 PERCENT OF THE <br />UNIT. THESE SOILS ARE INTERMIXED ON THE LANDSCAPE. <br />THE NORKA SOIL IS DEEP AND WELL DRAINED. IT FORMED IN LOESS. <br />TYPICALLY THE SURFACE LAYER IS SILT LOAM ABOUT 3 INCHES THICK. <br />THE UPPER PART OF THE SUBSOIL IS SILTY CLAY LOAM ABOUT 7 INCHES <br />THICK. THE LOWER PART OF THE SUBSOIL IS CALCAREOUS SILT LOAM ABOUT <br />5 INCHES THICK. THE SUBSTRATUM IS CALCAREOUS SILT LOAM OF 60 INCHES <br />OR MORE. PERMEABILITY IS MODERATE. AVAILABLE WATER CAPACITY IS HIGH. <br />RUNOFF IS SLOW AND HAZARD OF WATER EROSION IS SLIGHT. HAZARD OF SOIL <br />BLOWING IS MODERATE. ABOUT 40 PERCENT OF THIS SOIL IS ERODED. <br />THE KEITH SOIL IS VERY DEEP AND WELL DRAINED. IT FORMED IN LOESS. <br />TYPICALLY THE SURFACE LAYER IS SILT LOAM ABOUT 4 INCHES THICK.
