EXHIBIT B
CLARK PIT
SITE DESCRIPTION
This site is located 2.4 miles east and 2 miles south of Karval, Colorado and is located on
a prominent ridge at an elevation of approximately 5,000 to 5,020 feet. The site drains to
the south offthis ridge and then to the southeast. Most ofthe slopes are flatter than a 3:1
but a few of the slopes (to the south and west) aze steeper than a 3:1. There is a drainage feature located in and along the east
boundary but will not be in the disturbed area. No erosion products will be allowed to
enter this drainage feature. A stock dam is located on this drainage channel
approximately 550 feet southeast of the boundary line.
Vegetation in this azea is consists of blue gramma, buffalo and prairie three awn grasses
while the predominant fortis are sand sage, yucca and bush buckwheat. The soil survey
map report for this site shows that the site is primarily composed of four (4) soil types:
Fort loam with 3 to 5% slopes, Midway-Raver clay foams with 5 to 15% slopes, Midway-
Rock outcrop-complex with 5 to 40% slopes and Vonid-Midway complex with 3 to 12%
slopes
Topsoil is approximately 3 to 6 inches thick and the over burden is 1 to 2 feet thick. In
some azeas sand and gravel is mixed with the topsoil.
No man made structures are located within 200 feet of the proposed operation.
There is no major wildlife in the azea; nor any endangered species that would be
impacted.
2
