Revised 7/]3/83
2.04.9 Soils Resource Information - Continued:
• Runoff is slow. The hazard of soil blowing is severe, and
the hazard of water erosion is moderate.
This soil is used mainly for grazing. A small acreage is
irrigated and is used for grass hay and pasture. If this soil is
irrigated, an organic mat 1 to 4 inches thick generally forms on
the surface and bright, rust-colored mottles form throughout the
profile. Capablity units VIe-5, nonirrigated, and VIe-10,
irrigated, Sandy Bench range site.
Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled (Figure 1) from the
entire 2.66 acres to a depth of 12-13 inches. Topsoil
samples were collected from the stockpile and the east and
west sides of the cut bank on September 30, 1982. These
samples were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity, sodium
adsorption ratio, and texture. The results of these analyses
• are attached. As will be noted, the majority of the soil is
adequate for revegetation purposes. Sample E1-9" had an
S.A.R. of 8.3 which is considered "fair" by the iVyoming
Department of Environmental Quality and sample E2-11" showed
a relatively high level of boron. These problems appear to
be localized and, thus, should not cause any difficulties in
the re-establishment of a vegetative cover at the Northgate
site.
2_04.10 Vegetation Information:
The Soil Conservation Service has defined the loadout site as
a Sandy Bench range site. Under this definition, the
potential native vegetation community would be a slightly
°L`:'.1~.^_~ o ~CJC'15~1-„-a;s12 d. 1'c CCCiIL CC-.~OSltlOn, lJ~' 1:Clb'~lt,
of the dominant species would be:

11
