Shrubs would interfere with theirfarm activities. WFC does anticipate volunteer willows to grow in
low lying swales and drainage channels adjacent to sediment ponds.
Table 2.05.4(2)(e)-1 and Table 2.05.4(e}2 represents the estimated acreage of the various
reclaimed vegetation types to be established within the New Horizon 2 Mine area for 1987 and
1999 respectively. Also included are 9.23 acres of replaced county road. Table 2.05.4(2)(e}3 are
the various vegetation types within the existing (1987) and amended (1999) disturbance areas for
both pre-mine baseline vegetation and post-mine revegetation. Map 2.05.4(e)-1 indicated where
the various post-mine vegetation types will occur. Map 2.05.4-4 shows the replacement depths of
topsoil.
Revegetation Standards and Procedures for Testing for Successful Reclamation
Irrigated Hayland Tyae One area of irrigated hayland will be established on reclaimed land in
the original permit and one on the amended area (Morgan property) within the New Horizon permit
area. These areas occur in the southwestern portion of the permit areas (SE1/4 NW1/4, Section
6 T. 46N., R.15W.) and (NE1/4, NE1/4, Sec. 1, T.46N., R.16W.) respectively. The first are will be
reclaimed to a grass dominated hayland and the Morgan area will be reclaimed to a alfalfa
dominated hayland (seed mix #7) as detailed earlier. Because of marginal site conditions and
shallow soils, grass hayland was chosen as the land use for the first site. Alfalfa dominated
hayland was chosen for the second site as Morgan currently has the pasture in alfalfa hayland,
As can be seen in Table 2.05.4(2)(e)-4, there is a wide variation in the number of hay cuttings the
local Nucla farmers get during the year. Everyone gets one cutting and there are a few farmers that
attempt a second and third cutting. The majority of the production comes from the 1st cutting
however. The success standard for WFC's irrigated hayland will be based upon 1st cutting
production only so our yield can be easily compared with the local farmers. WFC has personally
contacted
(Revised 1-15-03) 2.05.4(2)(e)-12
