Air Pem~it Ac~tiamian /or rormcito Cad Compmry
4,000 tons maximum). Coal will be loaded into 85 ton haul trucks by an ten yard front end loader •
for shipment to the loadout facility.
At the P-1 and P-2 box cut, access from the surface to the coal seam is provided for each mine
individually by four portals expanding to a seven entry system underground. Portal op:nings will
be pre-cast concrete extending 20 feet away from the highwall face-up. A 25 foot safety bench will
be located above the portals at approximately 35 feet above the coal with other benched provided
in 50 ft. intervals. Slopes above the final bench will be cut at 2.SH:1 V. Of the four portals, two
will be used for ventilation with one entry equipped with a 150 horsepower exhaust fan. The other
two portals will be used for man supply access and coal production. There will be four portals
for each mine.
Underground mining will include room and pillar development with two continuous ((titter sections
per underground mine. Production will be conducted on two shifts with maintenance conducted
on the third shift. Production at the P-1 underground mine is estimated to be 74,5(X1 tons per
month when full production is reached. Production at the P-2 mine is estimated to be 70,000 tons
per month at full production. There will be a total of 255 production days per year. Support
equipment to be used underground will include a continuous miner, 48 inch production belt,
battery or electric shuttle cazs or continuous haulage equipment, two roof bolters, diesel powered
rubber tired mantrips, scoops, supply vehicles with trailers, and two shuttle vehicles.
Coal will be brought to the surface by 48 inch belt to a transfer station. The coal will be •
transferred to a 48 inch slope conveyor. The slope conveyor will discharge on to a ti0 ft. radial
stacker and coal pile. The coal pile at the portal will be large enough to hold approx'unately one
to two days production (approximately 7,500 tons maximum). Coal will be loaded into 85-ton haul
trucks by a ten yard front end loader for shipment to the loadout facility.
Mine Facilities
Structures
All support facilities associated with the surface mine will be portable and moved as the mine
progresses. These facilities will be limited to equipment and supply storage. No buildings or
structures will be constructed to support the surface mine, however, an office/change trailer will
be located in the surface mine area. Initial location for this trailer is shown on Figtue 2 in the
surface mine supply storage area.
Support structures located at the portal sites will include 30 by 30 foot shop and storage buildings.
These buildings will be of metal construction with 12 inch concrete floors reinforced with rebaz
and wire mesh. An office and bath house will also be located at the portals and will be 14 by 30
foot trailer type buildings placed on concrete corner footers. Other facilities will include a 1,000
gallon diesel fuel tank placed in a cement berm area, 10,000 gallon water tank to provide water •
use for underground operations, a power substation gravel pad with an eight foot chairs link fence,
