~o~ <br />r~ <br />U <br />January 13, 1997 <br />Mr. Jce Malloy <br />Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment <br />Air Pollution Control Division <br />APCD-SS-BI <br />4300 Cherry Creek Drive South <br />Denver, Colorado 80222-1530 <br />Dear Mr. Malloy: <br />Greystone is presenting this Application for Construction Petmit along with the $100.00 APEN <br />filing fee on behalf of the Lorencito Coal Company, Evansville, Indiana (LCC). LCC is <br />proposing a combined surface and underground coal mine, the Lorencito Canyon Mine, in Las <br />Animas County, Colorado, approximately three miles west of Segundo, Colorado (20 miles west <br />• of Trinidad), on Highway 12. An application to conduct surface or underground mining was <br />submitted to the State of Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology on December 23, 1996. <br />The application was deemed complete on January 2, 1997. LCC is proposing a maximum <br />annual production rate of 2.418 million tons of coal per year.
