(ii) Species and amounts per acre of seeds and seedlings to be
' used.
~'. The species and rate of seeding per acre will be as shown in
• Table 2.05.4 (2) (e) (ii} . ,
Based on knowledge of the soil and climate, recommendations by the
Mined Land Reclamation staff, the Bureau of Reclamation and on
going research by ARCO, Hawthorn seedlings will be used at 25
seedling per acre.
(iii) Methods to be used in Planting and seeding.
Seeding will be done by hydroseeding on slopes greater than 3 to 1.
All slopes less than 3 to 1 will be done by drill seeding. The
areas to be seeded will have the seed bed prepared by addition of
topsoil from the topsoil stockpiles. Where the slopes are greater
than 3 to 1, the hydroseeding will be done in two steps, first the
seed will be applied and last a cover of shredded wood fiber will
be applied.
•--
[.
(iv) Mulching techniques.
Along ditches and other small areas seeded by hand, mulching will
not be done. Where drill seeding is done, straw or hay will be
used at a rate of one ton per acre. The straw or hay will be
distributed using a straw blower. When hydroseeding is done,
1,000 pounds per acre of wood fiber mulch will be applied after
the seed has been distrubuted.
(v) Irrigation.
Irrigation will not be used in establishing revegetation. No
pest or disease control measures are anticipated.' If a problem
is determined to exist based on findings of revegetation monitoring,
the Division will be consulted and a plan will be developed at that
time.
( Measures pr sed to be used to determine the success of
revege do
' • The fo w plan will be used to determine the success of
r egetation in cordance with Section 4.15.7(2)(a), It is
