Session and Sons Gravel Pit
Exhibit I
Soils Information
Sessions and Sons have contacted the Soil Conservation District in regazds to the
proposed gravel pit -located T9N, R79W Section 9. NRCS has identified Bosler Sandy
Loam as the soil at the proposed site. This series of soil consists of a deep, well-drained
soil that formed in outwash or old gravelly alluvium. The soils are underlain by very
gravelly coarse sandy loam at a depth of 20 to 40 inches.
In a representative profile the surface layer is brown sandy loam about 3 inches thick.
The subsoil is brown sandy clay loam about 12 inches thick. The underlying material is
light olive brown sandy loam. Very gravelly loamy coarse sand is at a depth of about 21
inches. A zone of lime accumulation is below a depth of about 11 inches.
This soil is on high terraces and benches. Slopes are 2 to 5 percent. Included with this
soil in mapping are a few small areas of soils that are similar to Bosler soils but that are
more then 35 percent gravel throughout.
Permeability is moderate and available water capacity is moderate. Runoff is slow. The
hazards of soil blowing and water erosion are slight.
