B. Michl Lloyd
1. Aggregate Industries is proposing to remove 27 acres from the Tucson Resource Mine
(M-1991-140) and include this acreage under the Tucson South Resource (M-2004-044).
They want to defer the substantial reclamation cost for this area as long as possible. This
is totally unacceptable, especially considering that Permit M-1991-140 requires
concurrent reclamation of the areas as they are mined.
2. Aggregate Industries estimates 7.5 million cubic yards of material to be mined. I believe
the time (27years) that they are requesting to mine this amount of material is
unreasonably excessive.
3. In the application, Aggregate Industries states, "A I may process materials imported from
other sites." I find this to be totally unacceptable given the location of the permit area and
other factors in the application.
4. The mining plan proposes to stockpile overburden behind my property in piles
approximately 300 feet long, 100 feet wide and 30 feet high. This storage method will
lead to erosion and runoff problems, significant dust generation and more than likely
weed problems and will affect the water quality of the Brantner Ditch.
5. I believe the reclamation plan is totally inadequate.
Marilyn Kent
I would like to know how they will keep the dust in control. Will the amount of dust be
monitored and, if so, by whom?
2. Who monitors the noise pollution that comes from the mining operations?
3. I have lost 27 old large trees more are dead this year. I feel that the mining is a major
reason.
4. Since water migrates from southwest and they will be mining that area, I'm concerned
about my domestic well, which I use to water all my farm animals.
5. Before Aggregate is approved for mining, I feel they should clean up the property they
have already mined and make it safer.
