Where possible, final grading should be done on the
contour to conserve moisture and reduce erosion. Slopes should
be cut or filled so that no slope .is greater than 3:1. Seeding
success will increase if lesser slopes remain. The land will be
scarified to a depth of six inches following grading to provide
better cohersion be tweed topsoil and the .graded area.
Top::oil
Topsoil will be stockpiled prior to mining. After grading
is completed, topsoil will be spead over the area as evenly as
possible.
Fertilizer
A soil test should be made to determine the proper amounts
of fertilizer to apply. Fertilizer should be applied immediately
prior to :seeding, at the time of seeding, or immediately following
seeding, as applicable to the kind of fertilizer and type of
equipment used.
Seeding
Seedir~ will be clone shortly after the topsoil is applied
to prevent excess weed growth and loss of soil by erosion. Seed
will be planted with a drill designed to plant grass seed. The
area will be seeded sometime between the 1st of November and
May 31st.
See attached CO-ECS-S for seeding recommendations.

'! M
