• !
February 1, 1980
Mined Land Reclamation
Mr. James B. McArdle
Page 5
which is certainly subject to verification. Item C - The actual cost for the
seeding mixture for the Soil Conservation Service recommended seed plan is
$22 per acre. You have suggested a seeding a cost of $120 per acre, which
seems excessive by a factor of five. Item D - If mulching is required,
we would concur based on highway department recommendations that it be done
at a rate of two tons per acre, but feel that Highway Department data supports
a cost of $180 per ton rather than your quoted cost of $215 per ton. This,
of course, is also subject to verification and reference. Again, the maximum
disturbed acreage at any one time would more appropriately be 30 rather than
50. Item E - The Colorado State University Soil Test Laboratories soil test
reports recently provided to you indicate that no fertilization would be
appropriate for the anticipated use and seed mixture.
Impact appreciates your prompt review of this material so that the permit
might continue the track in a timely manner toward a March hearing. I will
look forward to our discussion of the sticky areas at our conference next week.
Cordially,
IMPACT, LTD.
R. Stephen Schermerhorn, P.E., C.C.E.
President
RSS/mo
