The backfilling operation utilizes the front end loader and the
haul trucks. The basic format is for the front end loader to excavate
the overburden and load it into the haul truck which then transports it
to either the overburden stockpile or to a worked out cut. his basic
cycle is continued antil all the overburden and opal is removed from a
particular cut.
In order to maximize resource reoovasy the exposed coal seam will
be augered before the cut is backfilled. The auger is simply positioned
at the base of the highwall and the opal is then augered to a depth of
approximately 150-200 feet. A thorough discussion of the augering operation
will be presented in a following section.
The annual production is anticipated to be 240,000 tons unless
market conditions warrant a change in total production. If this pro-
duction is realized the monthly production will be 20,000 tons. Depending
on market conditions, 1,200,000 tans of gal would be mined over the next
five years.
The P1ine Plan Nlap (Map V-2) presents the mine layout and the amount
of disturbance which will occur during the current permit term. 'IY~e
disturbance information presented on hlsp V-2 is tabulated in Table V-1
with this table indicating the number of acres to be disturbed per cut,
amount of overburden to be removed per cut, airount of gal to be removed
per cut, and total wlume of cut.
'I1~e specifics of the operation will be Wore thoroughly presented
in the following section.
•
V-3
