Mr. Robert R. Prevost -2- October 6, 1982
2. The locations of fixed equipment (and what that fixed equipment is)
I should be described in the narrative and fas necessary) shown on the map.
v In this regard, the mobile equipment used in the mining operation should also
be mentioned.
3. The Location and movement of topsoil stockpiles in the pit areas is not
clear. Present location of topsoil stockpiles should be either described in
a narrative or shown on the map, and the movement pattern of subsequent top-
soil stockpiling should be shown to the extent possible.
4. Wi11 any attempt be made to separate upper, more fertile topsoil layers
Sel ~ from lower, more sterile subsoil/overburden layers during stripping operations?
If not, please justify the mixing of the materials as concerns later potential
d,~f negative impacts on revegetation success.
Ga~~to'".
Exhibit E
1. Mulching is a vital part of revegetation, especially in a dry area such
as this. Our staff feels .that mulching only the south and west-facing slopes
will not be sufficient. Your statement that, "Level, east, and north Facing
O ,t i„` slopes should not need a mulch if tops oiled to the proper depth", does not
h ;mF seem relevant to the need for mulching. All areas to be revegetated should
~ be mulched, with heavier mulching on the south and west-facing slopes. Please
discuss this matter further.
oT
~~r \'2. Will topsoil be replaced over subsoil/overburden, or will the two materials
L~++'\,~~~V be mixed when reapplied? Please justify your planned procedure in this regard.
~µ ~o~ 3. since this area is to be used for grazing after reclamation, the incorpor-
J ation of a limited number of stock ponds would seem to be necessary for the
area to function in this way. Please outline any plans you may have for
the possible incorporation of stock ponds in the final reclamation plan.
Exhibit F
~~ ° ~a g y y g u t nt e are , these
~~nycosts may increase. Please clarify this matter such that we can agree on
~~~~ final bonding costs.
Presumably, the final contours for this area will extend through the
existing pits, maintaining the overall 1o slope. This is not clearly shown
on the map. Please clarify this matter.
F.xhihir r.
~ v I agree with gour reclamation costs, in general. I do, however, have one
question. It does not appear that mulching costs have been included in the
amounts iven. If the have and ou a ree to m lch he e it a
