South Pit Reclamation
Baclofilling, final grading and contouring, and retopsoiling have been completed on
the South Pit in accordance with the approved reclamation plan (with the exception
of a small terrace at the extreme north end of the former pit area that bas not been
reclaimed to date).
Sediment Ponds 1 and 2
Sediment ponds 1 and 2 will be reclaimed (backfilled, regraded, retopsoiled, and
revegetated) following a determination that they aze no longer required for sediment
control at the Cazbon Junction mine site.
In addition to the above described modifications to the reclamation plan described above,
the following modification was made previously to the reclamation plan. This change
involved removal of the former explosives area from the mine site.
Golf Course Reclamation
The northwest corner of the original permit area (approximately 10 acres) fell within the
area planned for development of a golf course and ancillary facilities. To facilitate
construction of the golf course facility, Oakridge Energy requested that the explosives
bench and access road be left in their current configuration. Based on this request,
liability release from CDMG was sought for this area. CDMG approved this release in
1997. Subsequent to the liability release, the area was excised from the Carbon Junction
Mine permit area (CDMG TR07).
Timetable and Schedule
Reclamation of the Carbon Junction Mine is slated to begin in the autumn of 2002 and
continue through completion. The completion of the tasks identified and described above
is anticipated to take three construction seasons (through the summer of 2005). With
completion of the earthmoving and retopsoiling, seeding and planting is contemplated in
the autumn of 2005. Should this timetable need to be altered, OEI will apprise CDMG
and revise the permit.
Reclamation Costs
Reclamation costs for third party completion of the reclamation plan have been developed
and aze presented for reclamation of the North Pit, the haul road to the North Pit, South
Pit, topsoil stockpiles, the permanently reclaimed spoils area, and reconstruction of
Cazbon Junction Canyon. The following tables present the reclamation costs for these
tasks. Additional task costs were calculated by CDMG during the mid-teen review and
found to fall within the amount of the existing bond amount provided by Oakridge
TR08, TRl 1, TR12 (v1.0) 5-33 Revised 9/97, 08/02, 9/03
