Nineteen species were represented in Doves samples £or a diver^ <br />city index of 2.16. <br />Total weer £ar the upland sagebrush reference area was estimated to be <br />79.68. Of this total, vegetation basal mover aoooimted for 17.58. Litter-- <br />rock and bare ground comprised 25.38 and 40.48 of the total cover, respectively. <br />Qasses, primazily omhaxdgrass (IhctZlis 9larerata) acd taLt Fescue (Festuca <br />elator) oontritwted 56.88 of the total vegetative Dover in the upland sage- <br />br~sh reference area. The forbs and shn~hs eontributsl 1.9 and 3.68 basal <br />wver, respectively, although canopy cover for the shrubs (i.e., big sagetn+cb <br />and four-wing saltbush) totaled 13.98. The most ornmon £orb encauitered was <br />sticksead. Broaa snalceeeed, asub-shrub, Plains pricklypeaz (gxmtra polycan_ <br />tha), a succulent, anti tuo bryophyte species also contrihuted to total vege- . <br />tation mve+r. .. . <br />Density of big sagebrush on the upland sagebrush ~tml was 2210 shrubs/ha <br />followed by fau-wig saltbush at 53 shrubs/ha and rubber rabbitbrvsh at 6 <br />shrubs/ha.
