Our file #77-343.
Dear Mr. Nottingham:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your recent permit
application. This letter is written to inform you of certain points of
inadequacy which should be cleared up prior to Board consideration. These
points do not include additional questions which may arise as a result of
nay initial inspection.
i
1. More information is needed in the mine plan which would clarify how
the mining will proceed. A paragraph more clearly describing the
"200 ft." area to be disturbed including the height of the highwalls i li
or series of benches and how the overburden is removed,~s-ppread, stock
piled or replaced.
2. Please clarify what you mean by "slopes will approximate 2:1". Does
thin mean will not exceed? If the reclaimed slopes are not to be
irrigated, a mtilch of soiae sort would be adviseable to conserve
moisture.
3. Fertilizer may be required especially if material from 30 ft. below
the surface is used for the planting medium.
4. Please clarify your topsoil salvage measures. It would perhaps be
adviseable to segregate the upper 1 - 2 feet for use as the future
seedbed. Additionally, any seedbed preparation measures should be s
discussed.
5. The final disposition of the settling pond should be given in the
reclamation plan.
6 . f have en, !,:.ed a memo from the Division of Water Resources concerning
,hieh snould be answ;red.
7. If you have an S.C.S. report for your site, please forward it to
this office.
8. It appears that there is some question concerning your local government
approval and the necessity of a special use permit. This controversy,
if it exists, should be cleared up prior to Board consideration.
