• 4,6 MITIGATION OF COAL MINING OPERATION IMPACTS
4.6.1 Mine
4,6.1.1 Air Pollution Control Plan
All movement of coal from the mine to the truck transfer point is per-
formed via conveyors. All of the conveyors are covered by metal
shrouds. Any spillage that occurs is collected in pans located
beneath the conveyors. Spray bars are used at all transfer points to
further minimize particulate emissions.
To further eliminate the possibility that coal dust may become air-
borne, the coal breakers, coal washer, raw and clean coal storage
silos, and both coarse refuse bins are complete enclosed. In addi-
tion, coal which leaves the processing facility consists of a minimum
of 5 percent surface moisture, which further minimizes the possibility
of coal dust dispersion,
Finally, all roads to the mine and within the coal processing area are
sprayed frequently to inhibit dust dispersion, and the main access road
from the clean coal silo to the loadout facility is paved.
The mine is currently covered by emissions permits issued by the
Colorado Air duality Control Commission. The approved permits are in
Appendix 4-F.
4,6.1.2 Fish and Wildlife Plan - Mine
Snowmass Coal Company's mining operations do not cause any significant
adverse effect on wildlife resources. Sediment control plans ensure
protection of fisheries.
..
4-101
