I do understand why the
above referenced letters from last November did not reach you, since the
address that I sent them to was the correct one. However, in order to
bring you up to date on this matter, I have enclosed them now.
Until your application has been approved by our Board, you cannot mine
any clay on the site. When the Board approves an application on the
operation, they can then lift the Cease and Desist Order, and you can
resume mining.
In general, I feel that I will need more information concerning the pre-
sent operation, before this application will be adequate. Have y~~u con-
tacted the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Soil Conservation Service
as I suggested? They can be very helpful as far as completing Exhibit D
is concerned. An on-site evaluation of potential wildlife impact:a and an
evaluation of the vegetation and soils is needed. The S.C.S. can also be
very helpful in providing a more detailed reclamation plan. I ha~re
several other questions concerning all of the exhibits in the app.ication.
I will send you this letter when the application is complete.
I also did not receive a letter from Jefferson County concerning This opera-
s tion. I will need proof that the operation is in compliance with local
zoning before the Board can consider the application.
We will have to talk more about this application before long. Please give
me a call, and we can set up a time to meet and talk about this. I am
anxious to help in any way I can.
Sincerely,
Mark S.
