III IIIIIIIIIIIII III • •
999 i-z/ ~ 5 ~
5 ~/ : EXHIBIT F
RECLAMATION PLAN MAP
The proposed well field layout is shown in Exhibit D, Figure D-2. As depicted in Figure
D-2, the solution mining well field will be divided into six "mining panels" that will be
sequentially developed according to the 5-year intervals indicated (e.g., 0-5, 5-10, etc.)
over the 30-year mine life (see Exhibit D, Section D.4).
Subsequent reclamation of the well field is shown in Figure F-1. Reclamation of the
solution mining well field will be an ongoing process throughout the operating life of
the project. As development of the 0-5 year mining panel approaches completion,
development of the 5-10 year mining panel will commence so that there will always be
sufficient solution mining wells in production to feed the processing plants. Final
reclamation of each mining panel will be accomplished once mining activities in the
panel have been concluded and mining has been initiated in the next panel. In general,
at any one time, one mining panel will be active, one mining panel will be undergoing
reclamation/revegetation (i.e., after year 5), and, ultimately, other mining panels will
have been reclaimed and in progressive stages of succession and habitat maturation.
A timetable for mining, reclamation, and restoration of useable habitat is provided in
Table F-1, below, and these stages are related to the particular mining panels on the
map in Figure F-1. Note that some 5-year mining panels are subdivided into sections
that are not located next to each other, in which case their components bear letter
designations as shown on Figures D-2 and F-1.
We have assumed that the physical reclamation of an entire panel can and will be
accomplished within 1 year after a mining panel is retired. This does not mean to imply
that such a panel would be fully reclaimed in 1 year. For purposes of determining
when a panel is fully reclaimed, we have used the primary BLM-specified post-mining
use as our goal, which in this case is mule deer habitat. According to the Draft EIS for
the Yankee Gulch Sodium Minerals Project Commercial Mine Plan, reclamation of
mining panels should provide mule deer forage within 5 to 10 years of reclamation.
Available forage would increase with time. Further development of wildlife habitat
(and also rangeland uses) will follow.
F-1
