(2VD) Routt loam, 3 to 25 percent slopes. <br />• <br />•This is a deep, we1L-drained soil on gently sloping to moderately steep <br />benches and mountain sideslopes of 3 to 65 percent. It formed in mixed <br />colluvium and residuum. This series is common along the ridge dividing <br />Mines 1 and 2, along Middle Creek in the 16284 Lease and over a consi- <br />derable area south of Pinnacle Peak. Native vegetation is aspen and <br />sagebrush. A considerable portion was farmed previously, but is now in <br />perennial pasture grasses. <br />Included in this unit are Coutis fine sandy loam (34E), Buckskin (2) <br />loam, and Cochetopa fine sandy Ioam (SOC). <br />Typically the surface layer is very dark grayish brown to brown loam <br />about 26 inches thick. The upper subsoil Layer is yellowish brown clay <br />loam about 12 inches thick, with light gray uncoated sand grains occur- <br />ing on the faces of peds. The lower subsoil is yellowish brown and <br />light yellowish brown heavy silty clay loam extending to 60 inches or <br />• more. <br />Permeability is very slow. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or <br />more. Available water capacity is high. Surface runoff is medium. <br />Erosion hazard is high from water. <br />2VF, 25 to 65 percent slopes, is on moderately to very steep mountain <br />slopes. <br />(SSA) Silas loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes. <br />Silas loam is a deep, well-drained soil in nearly level to strongly <br />sloping valley floors. It formed in alluvium of mixed sources. The <br />• only tract 'of' this soil on tfie~ proposed permit area is along'Middle <br />Creek east of the 16284 Lease Area. The area there is currently being <br />used as hayland. <br />L <br />
