1
satisfied. In effect the reclamation provides for the adequate
{'~
disposal of tailwaters from the ditch, something that iS not done
' now.
Three of the e;:isting sediment and dredge ponds now
occurring in the F'hase II area will be destroyed during''
r reclamation of F'hase II. but a~ourth sediment pond at the
' southern end will be brought into full operation during F'hase
III, by using the e::isting drainage ditch ne::t to highway 9. As
' it now stands this sediment pond is only a bacF;up to the other
three and was initially built for floating the dredge during its
construction about 40 years ago.
' Pecause these sediment ponds already e::ist there will be no
construction of earth dams or other water impoundments during any
of the mining phases.
The last sediment pond iPhase II Southend) will be
i reclaimed according to Rule 6.1.6.
' Wildlife: Reclamation will be directed toward a post mining
land use of historic mining site. However, because of the
' planting of trees and grasses native to the site, wildlife may
find the site useful habitat in view of the subdivision
' encroachment si.irrounding the permit area. Wildlife habitat
creation is not an intended reclamtion objective. Wildlife use
at this time is quite iow due to e;:isting site conditions and the
highway to the west.
l'opsailing: Topsoil will be removed in F'hase I from trench
l,~stock:piled separately from overburden material. the topsoil
stocF::pile will be near the intersection of all three phases of
mining isheet ~ of 4) and will be used in the reclamation of
' 1~~
