In some areas the surface layer is channery clay loam. <br />Permeability of the Waybe soil is slow. Available water holding capacity is low. Effective <br />rooting depth is 10 to 20 inches. Runoff is rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is moderate to <br />high. <br />The Vandamore Vaziant soil is moderately deep and well drained. It formed in residuum derived <br />dominantly from sandstone. Typically, the surface layer is pale brown channery loam about 5 <br />inches thick. The next layer is very pale brown very channery loam about 7 inches thick. The <br />underlying material is very pale brown very channery loam 21 inches thick. Weathered <br />sandstone is at a depth of about 33 inches. Depth to sandstone ranges from 20 to 40 inches. <br />Permeability of the Vandamore Variant soil is moderate. Available water holding capacity is <br />moderate to low. Effective rooting depth is 20 to 40 inches. Runoff is medium, and the hazard of <br />water erosion is moderate. <br />i <br />Rock outcrop consists of tilted exposures of interbedded sandsto a and shale about 1 foot to ]0 <br />feet thick. These exposures are on sharp ridge crests.
