Reclamation Cost Estimate
The following reclamation cost estimate is based on the assumption that there will be no more
than 9.99 acres +/- disturbed at any one time. The time when it would be most expensive to
reclaim the site is just before mining ends and the site is totally stripped and a short working face
exists across the site. It also assumes that when it comes time to re-soil the area, an average of 2
inches of soil would be spread over the disturbed area. At that time we will have to re-spread
2,662 cubic yards of topsoil. The areas needing work in this analysis are shown on the Sond Map
following this worksheet. A dozer will be used to do the shaping and re-soiling and other
equipment will be used as necessary to smooth the seed bed. The re-vegetation cost figures used
include fertilizer, grass seed, labor, drilling costs and mulch spreading and crimping if necessary.
Projected Reclamation Expense
Gravel Pit Reclamation:
Dozer to level and grade slopes
Haul in new top-soil to supplement what was stockpiled
originally
Push Top-Soil across disturbed area ~ smooth up for planting
Grass Seed (Acres & Rate /acre)
Drilling Cost (Acres & Rate /acre)
Stitch straw as ground protection through early growth period
Hours or Rate / Projected
Hour or
Acres Acre Cost
20.0 $ 70.00 $ 1,400.00
50.0 $ 20.00 $ 1,000.00
6.0 $ 70.00 $ 420.00
10.0 $ 50.00 $ 500.00
10.0 $ 20.00 $ 200.00
10.0 $ 50.00 $ 500.00
Estimated Expense to Reclaim $ 4.020.00
