Site Description (cont.) - Exhibit B RECEI ~/ ~p
Site Description APRY6 2~
Soils information: ~a~~OfMineralsendG
a°I°gt,
The following soils and vegetation information was obtained from site observations and the basic
soils and vegetation information contained in the Logan County Soil Survey, supplied by Natural
Resources Conservation Service. Excerpts from the book are made part of this application. The
soil on the site is shown on the NRCS map, Reproduced on pages 28 & 29 following this text,
attached to the back of this document.
A single type of soil is found on the site, aDix-Eckley complex (5-25% slopes). The description in
the soils information on pages 28 & 29, attached to the back of this document, is from the SCS
publication. The upper 2 inch layer of material is a sandy loam. This description iz consistent with
the soil on the site. Underlying the topsoil cover is a layer of gravelly cobble that will be mined.
In places the gravel is visible on the surface of the hillside and iz used to determine how deep the
deposit can be mined.
On Site Vegetation Information
It is a mix of native grasses containing species commonly found on the site as determined in the
SCS information. The seed will be drilled where possible and doubled if broadcast. The site is
currently a ridge located in a Gravel Breaks Range site typically found in northern Logan County
along the Peetz table. It is a dryland site with no special or unique characteristics with mostly
grasses, sand sage and forbs covering the area. Blue Gramma and Buffalo Grasses make up the
greater portion of the vegetative cover. Other species of grass and forbs along with Sage make up
the remaining portion. The area is part of a larger dryland pasture owned by MMM partnership,
Mark and Melvin Kokes. It has not been overly stressed by grazing; however tattle will be on the
property. The mined area will be open range which is consistent with the gravel pit operated by
Logan County in the same general vicinity.
The species of vegetation found on the site are as follows:
Data:
1. Current ground cover percent is: 20% and Canopy cover is 60% - 65%
2. Topsoil depth on site averages: 2 - 3 inches
3. Seeding Dates recommended: November through Rpril
4. Fertilizer if needed: 10 tons of manure per acre of reclamation
5. Seed mix to be used for the area: Landowner will contact NCRS for recommended grass
blends at time of reclamation
