shows the locations of surface stations anti wells for tha Vew Horizon Mina '_ moniroring
program. ~todifiucions :o the existing monitorine locations cor surface and groundwater are
discussed below. .all ~a[a will be rooormd in tha annual hydrolotry report.
Surface Wafer Monitoring
The total number of surface water sampling low[ions will be six. Calamity Draw will contain
four stations while the rtmaining two stations will be located an the Wese Lateral Ditch.
Smtions SW-Y102 u located on a tributary of Calamirv draw and will remain as a monitoring
point for water Ieaving Pond 007. This wll also act as the iVPDES discharge monitoring
point for Pond 007, The two new scarions, SW-`1108 and Sw-Y109 will be located on
Calamity Draw, The upstream station, SW-Y103 will be located just west of Lincoln Street
as it @ows from under the road. This smdon will dctine water quality and quanrity before
is enters [he area potentiaQy influenced by the mine. SW-Y109 will be located on Calamity
Draw west of the mine peratit boundary but eas[ of the Yucla waste water lagoons. This
station wt71 define the water quality and gttantity az it leaves the site but before it is
influedced by the waste water lagoons. Etdsting staton SW Y101 wrll be monitored Eor one
• year m establish a correlation of past dam collected on Calamity Draw.
Existing stations SW-~f104 and SW-Y105 will remain is place on the West Lateral Ditch-
These two smtions will monitor @ow and water'quality of the ditch >.vstem as it amen the
upstream area of the mine and as it leaves the mine area.
Monthly Dow, pH, temperature, and conductivity measuremenu wilt be taken a[ the sa
motdmring locations to assess potential impacts of the mine and to fulfill the requirements
For the water augmentation plan. Water quality parame[ers listed in Table 6 will be
co0ected on a quanerly basis. This mole represents the water quality parameters tha[ were
co0ected during subsequent sampling periods. By continuing with this parameter list, the
baseline can be utt7ized to better define the conditions as the mining proceeds. The
discharge point at Pond 007 will also be monitored for YPDES requiremenu.
Groundwater Monitoring
Western Fuels proposes to moditYthe groundwater monitoring program to include ]ocadiins
directly up and down gradien[ of the site. The approved plan wiIl consist of existing wells
and insmUa[ion of a new set of wells m monitor the overburden, Dakota Coat cad the
underburden aquifers in the northeast corner of the site- and two alluvial wells to be located
on Calamity Draw upstream and downstream of tha mine permit boundary (Map ? 04.7-1).
Tha upstream well will be located in the @ocxl plain near Lincoln Street in the south east
l4
•
Attachment 2.04.7-5-17
