Permit No. CO-0032638
APPLICABLE KULES AND REGULAI'IUNS: (CONTINUED)
Because these two discharges provide Che only continuous discharges from this
facility and both discharge to tine same receiving water, the combined maximum flow
is used in mass balance formula calculations, as shown in Appendix A. Tables 3 and
4 show limitations applicable to these ouL'falls.
Table 3 (outfall 003)
Parameter SES WQS ~ BPT BAT
Flow (MGD) N/A 1.87 N/A N/A
pH (s. u.) 6.0 - 9.0 6.5 - 9.0 6.U - 9.0 N/A
Oil and Grease (mg/1) 10.0 N/A N/A N/A
Total Suspended Solids (mg/1) 30/45 N/A 35/70 N/A
Settleable Solids (ml/1) N/A N/A N/A 0.5
Total Recoverable Iron (mg/1) N/A 1.9 3.5/7.0* 3.5/7.U*
Salinity N/A N/A N/A N/A
* These limitations are expressed as "total" iron.
Table 4 (outfa ll 006)
Parameter SES WQS BPT BAT
Flow (MGD) N/A 2.28 N/A N/A
pH (s. u.) 6.0 - 9.U 6.5 - 9.U 6.0-9.0 N/A
Oil and Grease (mg/1) 10.0 N/A N/A N/A
Total Suspended Solids (mg/1) 30/45 N/A 35/70 N/A
Total Recoverable Iron (mg/1) N/A 1.9 3.5/ 7. 0* 3.5/7.0*
Salinity N/A N/A N/A N/A
* See Table 3
The need for other water quality based limitations was assessed. Mass balance
formula calculations, when compared to monitoring performed by the permittee,
showed no other limitations were necessary at this time. Limitations for all
potentially impacting parameters were calculated as shown in Appendix A. Lab
results for mercury were less than 0.0001 mg/1. Lab results for total recoverable
manganese at outfall 003 were 0.11 and O.U9 mg/1 (well below the WQS of 1.0) and
1.57 and 1.69 mg/1 at outfall 006 (well below the calculated limitation of 2.70
mg/1). The detection limit in some cases was too high to determine whether cadmium
and silver had an impact.
C~
