Sudden or severe weather changes are infrequent, mainly
due to the high ring of mountains around the valley. This protective topography results in a low annual
precipitation of approximately eight (8) inches. The usual occurrence of precipitation during the growing
' season si in the form of light showers from thunderstorms which develop over the western mountains. The
nature of the valley and its location, with typical valley breezes, provide some spring and fall frost protection,
t resulting in an average growing season of 190 days from April to October. Although temperatures have
ranged to a high of I05 degrees Fahrenheit, the usual summer temperatures range in the middle to low 90's in
' the daytime and to the low 60's at night. Relative humidity is usually low during the growing season.
Local climatological data is shown on the attached sheets.
1
1
1
1
