Results indicate ion 'exchange of sodium for calcium within the clay <br />sample. Apparently illitic clays are being converted to montmorillonitic <br />clays (highly swelling). <br />G. Some interesting trace element chemical reactions apparent, such as <br />manganese (Mn) being leached out of clay. Most trace elements appear to <br />be retained in clay, decreased content in throughput liquor. <br />2. Material interactions with embankment materials. <br />A. Performed to anticipate any possible runoff material problems or <br />problems affecting material properties of embankment. <br />B. All proposed borrow materials have been checked, no problems apparent <br />to date. ' <br />Gibson-Hill Environmental Group (Subsidiary of Dravo) will be preparing applications <br />for submission to Colorado MLRD, including reclamation plans. To be complete <br />by July 15, 1980. <br />
