2.02.6 General Requirements for Coal Exploration
In 1985, an exploration program was submitted and approved for the
South lease area. The original eight core holes were approved as a
technical revision TR-04 (#85-03) to the permit which was necessary due
to the surface disturbance associated with the project (See Appendix 2-
1).
A minor revision MR-10 (#85-05) was approved later in 1985 which
permitted the drilling of two additional holes (See Appendix 2-2}.
In 1984, prior to submittal of the South Lease Exploration Plan, two
additional exploration holes were approved as minor revision MR-07
(#84-04). These two holes were to be drilled on the site of groundwater
monitoring stations in order to limit surface disturbance. However, note
that only one of the holes was drilled. It was located at site GWMS-03.
A minor revision, MR-11 (#85-06) in 1985 extended the reclamation date
for the access road to PCC-09 and PCC-10 to allow future access
without additional surface disturbance.
Refer to Exhibit SL-07-021 for the locations of all exploration holes and
access roads.
• This exploration program was conducted under the provisions of the
Regulation of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal
Mining, Rule 4.21. The exploratory holes were plugged in accordance
with procedures outlined in Figure 1 of Appendix 2-1; Typical Drill Hole
Abandonment (U.S.G.S.). Approximately seven acres of disturbed area
was reclaimed in the fall of 1985, which included drill pads and access
roads.
~ ~ 2-1 (New 3/1/96)
