Proposed Aggregate Strip Mine in Parkdale, Colorado
Dear Governor Romer:
~ ~ ~~- III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
~,.
:, r ` i = ~ 1, v_ ~, ~~'~ .. .
r`~
._
~~~: cr
~'
_i 'i
My husband and I live at O1 10 County Road 157, Parkdale, Colorado -directly in Cront of the
proposed gravel pit and strip mine area, currently known as Permit irCUP 97-5. Agile Storte
Systems, Inc. is requesting a Life of the Mine Conditional 11se Permit at this site. At the same
time one of the principals of Agile Stone, h1r. Bill Fehr, is attempting to purchase the rail line
between Canon City and Parkdale through his company T.T~T.A.P. (I Need A Profit) in order to
facilitate this mining operation.
Governor, please do not allow this to happen. This area of Colorado is a scenic corridor,
exceptionally beautiful in appearance and a true attractor of tourism to our Stai:e. Agile Stone
Systems, Inc. is planning bench cut mining of the mountain range right at the entrance to Big
Hom Sheep Canyon off Highway 50. There is certainly nothing scenic or beattiful about this type
of tnirtinb -it's just a big scaz on a mountain with no hope of reclamation.And this is a permanent
scar - it will never diminish or look better. We already have the remnants of this type of mining
Northwest of the Gazden of the Gods outside of Colorado Springs -please do not allow this to
happen again!
1 have enclosed copies of three letters 1 have sent to various organizations concerning rebulating
this company if it does indeed come into power -but 1 am still hoping that this will nut be
necessary.
Thank you for listening to my concerns - T hope you can help.
l ..._ .~.
Sincerely, ~>
!~ ~ ~_ ~
-- ~. 1?
- san Steers
