WATER PLA•ING FOR ADAMS COUNTY GRAV~ PERMIT
INTRODUCTION
The proposed Adams County gravel site includes approx-
imately 527 acres and is located in the flood plain of the
South Platte River (Figure 1). The property is located
approximately five miles so<<theast of Brighton and immediately
west of Henderson. The property is entirely west of the
South Platte River.
Present land use of the site is entirely agricultural.
Most of the land is presently irrigated by laterals from
the Lower Clear Creek and the Brantner Ditches. Water
from these ditches has been used in past years to irrigate
approximately 371 acres of the mining site which lie
south of Henderson Road. wells constructed in the alluvial
deposits along the South Platte River have been used to
irrigate approximately 115 acres whic;~ lie north of the
Henderson Road. Crops irrigated by the two ditches and the
wells have included corn and small vegetables such as cu-
cumbers, beets, and onions.
-1-
