• Additional 'contributions to the impounded water (dominated by spoil water quality) as a
result of snowmelt runoff from reclaimed areas will result in some dilution of pond water
and corresponding pond discharge chemistry, depending on the magnitude and duration of the
snowmelt. Runoff generated by rainfall on reclaimed areas will have less of an effect on
pond or pond discharge chemistry due to lower runoff volumes in comparison to snowmelt.
The effects of runoff from reclaimed areas on surface water quality will be long-term, but
of minimal significance. Runoff water quality will be influenced by topsoil mineralogy,
and will exhibit lower TDS and major ion concentrations than impounded water dominated by
re sa turated spoil water chemistry. Runoff from reclaimed areas will be greater during the
snowmelt period (spring, early summer), and will potentially provide a temporary dilution
of impounded and pond discharge water.
Summary
This Tab has presented a discussion of probable hydrologic consequences expected to result
from the mine plans presented in this PAP. Table 17-29 summarizes the discussion by
• listing the probable hydrologic consequences and the results of each analysis. As
presented in the table, all of the probable impacts have been determined to have no short-
or long-term significance, or a pl an. has been presented to mitigate those determined to
have some significance.
J
77
