Underpressure of System
When pressure less than those required to operate equioment
• safely ar•e experienced, specific steps must be taken to
insure that an increase to normal operating pressure will
not endanger life or property. Refer to Gas Outage Procedure,
~E{buJ
MAJOR FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS, NEAR OR DIRECTLY INVOLVING A PIPELINE FACILITY
Emergency precautions must be taken after explosions and during
major fires to protect system facilities and to insure that the presence
of gas will not create additional problems for fire fighting and damage
control personnel. Refer to P~~E /N
NATURAL DISASTERS
Disasters such as floods, tornadoes and high winds, might cause
• various operating problems within a gas system. Emergency procedures
must be employed to survey the system and eliminate conditions that
might endanger life or property.
GAS OUTAGE
When conditions cause loss of a service to a large number of
customers, existing Gas Outage Procedure must be followed as dictated
by the scope of the outage, Under certain circumstances,
such as abnormal curtailment of gas or accidental loss of supply, it
may be necessary to valve off sections of a system in order to maintain
service to other sections of customers. In addition, it may be necessary
to valve off section s. because of leaks, fires, explosions or other
•
-4-
