MINING PLAN EXHIBIT D (CONT)
west and north since they will be hidden behind the hill that is
left was mining progresses.
Mining equipment may include but is not limited to, front-end
loaders, scrapers, motor graders, bulldozers, track-hoes, drills,
tractor trailers, tandem-axle end dumps and articulated haul
trucks, and water trucks; for dust control. Processing and sup-
porting equipment to be found on site may include, but is not
limited to screening plants, wet and .dry; portable crushers, porta-
ble conveyors, a concrete batch plant and a portable asphalt batch
plant. A storage/maintenance building, constructed of enameled
steel siding of colors complementary to the surroundings will be
constructed on the property. This building will be utilized for
storing mobile equipment used at the mine, performing maintenance
work on the equipment and will include a mine office. A scale and
scale house will also be installed once the floor of the mine
reached it final level. A request for installation of a temporary
building will be part of the Grand County Special Use Permit. The
building will be removed when mining is complete or if a deal can
be made with the landowners it will be left for their use.
MINING PLA1V
The Cottonwood Quarry will be a dry mine, except for the water
used to produce washed gravel products. The material will be mined
using front-end loaders, dozers and haul trucks once blasting has
loosened the rock. A Blasting Plan was prepared by Gorden Revey of
Revey and Associates. The entire plan including Geotechnical
stability information is part of the Geotechnical Exhibit of this
submittal starting on page 51. Screening, crushing, washing and
stockpiling will occur on site when the mine is in full operation.
Dewatering of the pit will not be needed. Production from the
Cottonwood Quarry will begin in 2004 and continue for 80 to 120
years, depending on demand for the products in the market area.
This mine will produce specification aggregates, washed rock,
rip-rap, ballast, sand and crusher fines et al. Most all of this
material will be sold but it is estimated that approximately 38 of
the total rock removed will be crusher fines for which there is no
market. These fines will be used during reclamation to make the
root zone over the rock floor or flat benches created when mining
reaches the final floor elevation.
initially a road will be built from County Road 55 in the
southwest part of the site along the hillside to the level area
where mining will start. The road may be build across the southern
side to have the appropriate grade up to where mining will begin.
7
