I•
SENECA II MINE
General Policies
TAB 2
The majority of information contained in Tab 2 (General Policies) was
assembled during the initial permitting under the federal Surface Mining
Control and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) and state programs effective in
1981. The general policies concerning fire prevention and control,
health and safety, and equal employment, as presented in 1981, were a
reflection of state and federal laws and regulations and the United Mine
Workers of America (UMWA) contract in place at that time. They still
serve as an example of Peabody's commitment to operate in a legal and
safe manner.
The section on socioeconomic influences included in the original Tab 2
presented a "snapshot" of the regional economy and community
infrastructure at the time of initial permit approval.
Th
f
ll
i id
tif
th emblin
l
ibl
f
r as
the
ow
ng pages
e
o en
y
e s
g
peop
e respons
e
o
subsequent renewal applications for Permit CO-80-005, as well as,
updated information on records and permit storage.
Renewal Applications 1 and 2 for Permit No. C-80-005 were assembled by
the staff of Peabody Coal Company.
