daylighted ends of the trench segments and the application of mulch to the outslopes of constructed berms. Tn <br />addition, temporary erosion control measures consisting of berm construction, silt fence installation, and straw bale <br />.placement were utilized during the construction period. <br />The Yampa Valley Electric Association powerlines and substation installation along Routt County Road # 27 were <br />visually inspected on a periodic basis. No repairs to the powerlines or substation were required during this mining <br />activity. <br />Weekly visual monitoring of the substation installation commenced when the longwall face advanced to within 500 <br />feet of the substation. The monitoring frequency accelerated to a daily frequency when the longwall face advance <br />to within 100 feet of the substation. Daily inspections continued for two weeks after the longwall undermined the <br />substation. Weekly inspections continued until subsidence effects in the general vicinity were no longer observed <br />to occur. <br />No monitoring is planned for any of the dwellings, except that the employee was advised when that dwelling will <br />be undermined. The employees were provided three to six months notice of when mining occurred under the <br />dwelling. <br />Archeological site SRT345 was the focus of an extensive investigation performed by Metcalf Archaeological <br />Consultant, Inc., during the period of late ]une, 1994 through mid-September, 1994. The results of their <br />investigation, are presented in Exhibit6c-1. <br />Southwest Panels 2 and 3 Extension <br />Additional monuments were installed over the 2 southwest panel, as shown on Map 23A, in order to verify that <br />subsidence resulting from the mining of this panel did not extend into the Fish Creek Alluvial Valley floor. The <br />~onuments, were constructed as per TCC's approval plan, were installed prior to longwall mining of the panel. <br />e monuments were monitored on a quarterly frequency until hvo successive monitoring episodes show no <br />significant difference of the measured subsidence. When no long required for the mining operation, the monuments <br />will be removed. The subsidence data generated from this line has been included in the semi-annual subsidence <br />reports. <br />All monuments were installed prior to mining in a particular location. Monuments were surveyed quarterly, but <br />severe winter conditions may preclude surveying monuments in hazardous or inaccessible areas.
