AVF Subsidence Study, Final Report. The results of the mathematical model show an additiona17.3 acres will be
flooded as a result of mining in Panels 17-Right and I S-Right during the low flow period. During spring runoff, up
to 12.3 acres will be flooded.
In reference to a change in the gradient of Fish Creek, SubTerra analyzed the creek from stations 5+ 00 to 100 +00.
The analysis included evaluating the gradient both before and after mining. The result of this analysis is presented
on Tables 2 and 3 in the study. Also, the narrative includes a discussion of change in gradient. , ,
As mining continues to the north, and coal is removed from panels 17-Right and 18-Right the cumulative number
of acres to be flooded during the low flow period is 7:3 acres. Panel 17-Right will involve flooding~7.3 acres and
panel 18=Right will involve flooding 0.5 acres.
to . ~ .
There are iwo landowners associated with the undermining and subsiding of Fish Creek; Camilletti and Sons, and
the State of Colorado. Camilletti and Sons own approximately 920 acres in the immediate azea of the mine, 3,500
acres in various sections of T6N, R86W, and approximately ],040 acres in T7N, R86W. Their property within the
immediate area of the mine will be impacted by the mining of Panel 18-Right. Approximately 0.5 acres will be
flooded during low-flow conditions, and 2.3 acres during high-flow condition's. Personal communication (April
and May, 2003) with Mr. Frank Camilletti, of Camilletti and Sons indicates that this acreage is not critical to the
continued operation of the ranch and will not materially damage of adversely effect their operations. This due to
the fact that this parcel of land is within a narrow canyon and is not conducive to flood irrigation for the production
of hay crops. This area is not cropped and is treated as unimproved rangeland.
The State of Colorado is the surface owner of the parcel to be undermined and subsided during mining of the 17-
Right Panel.. As presented in the exhibit, a total of 4.4 acres will be flooded by mining of this panel. As is the case
for all the lands along Fish Creek to be undermined and subsided, no flood irrigation system has been established to
increase the productivity of the land, nor aze the management practices established for haying this area. The land is
.treated as unimproved rangeland utilized for grazing by the lessee.
Monitorine Wells
Active ground water monitoring wells 97012TC and 97012TM fall within the proposed mine expansion azeas under
PR06-07, however, these wells lie directly above the main entries where retention of chain and barrier pillars will
prevent surface subsidence, so these wells should not be impacted by the proposed mining operations.
•
PR06-07
2.05-184.9
]1/07/06
