1) Methods of Coal Exploration and Reclamation
Drilling and Logging Equipment - A Mid<aay 1500-MS drill rig (rotary)
will be used to drill the exploratory holes. A 3,000 gallon water truck will
haul water from the Dorchester B1 Mine facilities/sources, as required to
drill the holes. Alight van-type truck will house the necessary electric
logging equipment required on the project.
All holes will be 5 5/8" diameter holes to allow fora 3" geophysical
tool to probe the finished hole. Atl holes will be electric (geophysical)
logged with a wet-hole tool.
Dorchester plans to core two (2) holes from Block "A" and one (1)
hole on Block "B" to establish both coal thickness and quality. The decision
as to which holes will be~cored will be based on the electric log data.
• Road Construction - No road construction is contemplated in conjunction
with this drilling program. Some minor improvement to existing roads may be
required.
Drill Cutting and Debris Disposal - All equipment, supplies and
debris associated with the drilling project will be removed from the site.
Excess drill cuttings will be disposed of in the refuse dump at the Dorchester
C1 Mine.
8) Threatened and Endangered Species - None of the resident wildlife
species of the area are listed on, or are being considered for the Federal
or State Threatened or Endangered Species List. Peregrine Falcons may
migrate through the general area, however, the proposed drilling activity
will not adversely affect the species.
Mr. Scott Peterson, Colorado Natural Heritage Program was contacted
regarding the occurrence of threatened or endangered plants in the region.
He indicated that there are no recorded occurences of the plant species
listed as threatened or endangered in the vicinity of the proposed exploratory
drilling. Three species (Eriogonum brandegei, Penstomen degeneri and Mirabilis
rotundifolia) included on notices of review for potential listing have been
reported, however, to occur in the region,
-3-
