Routt Cnu•;ty. The gravel pit ;.s lr, Gated atop a mountain with an <br />access road to :rithin 500'feet of the top. The gravel a_nd rock is ushcd southerly <br />off the nountzin side to the b.:nch and loaded on trucks by front end loaders. There <br />' is virtually no topsoil, hence all the material is used as gravel and terse. The <br />north^_rn bnrder of said pit xill be mined at xbo ut a 5 to ] slope and .the Ce nth area <br />gill be lowered as the operation progresse s. ^ventually. the affected area will be <br />,,,~ seeded Bach with the suRge stud grasses and shrubbery. <br />There will bs no need for further access roads, hence the total gravel pit <br />aroma should be no more t}an eight (8) acreas. There is no water pre se nt in the pit <br />~. area at any time of the year. <br />' 1:o record was I:ept of the amount of Travel mined it the years previous to <br />~ 1974. In 1978, approximate ly ~'~,000 yards of travel were ramuved.
