BIT "B"
MINING PLAN
•
This operation is typical of the upland deposits in Pueblo C unty
on both sides of the St, Charles River, as well as south of he
Arkansas River. The deposit ranges from a depth of 4' on th
perimeters of the pit to a maximum aggregate depth of 16' on the
crown of the knolls. Combined topsoil and overburden ranges from
9" to 18", Topsoil and overburden will be segregated and st ck-
piled on the perimeters of the pit area for replacement in t e
reclamation phase. Access to Cortner Road will remain the s me.
A new stretch of road will be constructed extending southeas from
the existing ranch road, across the Bessemer Ditch and up th swail
to this deposit,
Mining will start at the point the road reaches the deposit nd will
continue to the east boundary. Extraction will then move so th across
this pit face. Portable crushing and screening equipment will be
located in the northern portion of the pit. Stripping ands ock-
piling of overburden and topsoil will be performed by either front-end
loaders, dozers, and/or scrapers. Material will be excavate from the
deposit by front-end loader and transported to the crushing lant for
processing and stockpiling. Processed material will be load d in haul
trucks by front-end loader for transport to fob sites,
Extraction of the gravel body will leave a level pit floor for reclamation
at approximately elevation 4750. It appears that there will a some
backsloping in reclamation at 3:1V on portions of the south, ast and
north perimeters.
The applicant expects that with continued business demand in
at some time in the future, it will be necessary to expand t
area onto adjacent owned deposits.
e area,
permit
•
