<br />2.06.8(3)(b)(iii) <br />The Land Use Map, 2.04.3(2)(a)-1, shows the lands within and <br />adjacent to the permit area that are used for farming and grazing <br />activities. As previously noted, there are no lands which are <br />considered flood irrigated with or adjacent to the permit area. <br />The Vegetation Information, Section 2.04.10, and the Soil and <br />Vegetation Map, 2.04.9-1, describe and illustrate the vegetation <br />in the permit area. <br />As described in the General Requirements: Site Description and <br />Land Use Information, Section 2.04.3, there are approximately <br />914 acres of pasture or grazing land and approximately 263 acres <br />of apple orchards in the land within and adjacent to the permit <br />area. <br /> Soil Conservation Service productivity information for the area <br /> of the Red Canyon #1 i4ine and proposed #2 Mine and adjacent areas <br /> is as follows: <br />Apple Orchards <br />Pasture with Alfalfa <br />Pasture without Alfalfa: <br />800 - 900 bushels per acre <br />3 tons per acre <br />2 tons per acre <br />In conversations with the Soil Conservation Service it was learned <br />that agricultural activities have existed in the permit area and <br />adjacent areas for the past 70 to 80 years. <br />None of the agricultural lands identified on the Land Use Map, <br />2.04.3(2)(a)-1 and on Drawing 2.06.8(3)(b)(ii)-1 utilize flood <br />irrigation. All employ the "furrow" method. <br />(iv) Documentation that areas identified in 2.06.8(3) are, <br />or are not, subirrigated, based on groundwater monitoring data. <br />representative water quality, soil moisture measurements, and <br />measurements of rooting depth, soil mottling, and water requirements <br />of vegetation. <br />REVISED May 8, 1981 162a <br />
