EXHIBIT J-VEGETATION IIFORIdATION
Nost of the affected area on the SF1-18 property falls within what the
Soil Conservation Service would describe as a Pinyon-Juniper 11`oodland range
site. This plant association occurs at the lowest elevations of the coniferous
woodland types in Colorado.
Associated understory species include:
Indian Ricegrass
Blue Grama
Galleta
Cheatgrass
Fendler Three Awn
Rabbitbrush
Snakeweed
Fleabane
The vegetative cover on Sht-18 may be classified as scattered to sparse.
•
Flost Pinyou-Juniper stands do not reach over twenty feet in height, with the
shrub forms and grasses and forbs remaining closely cropped by grazing and
wildlife use. Grassy parks are heavily infested with patches of prickly pear
cactus.
This type of vegetation is not rated by the Soil Conservation Service
as to its total annual production. Favorability for grazing depends largely
upon density of the canopy and erosion characteristics of the soil.
The Soil Conservation Service has done n o detailed soil surveys for the
area, but all available information relating to soils may be found in Exhibit I.
See Exhibit C for a map shoving general vegetation as related to topography.
•
