' 4 '
b) Geotechnical logging of holes G1 and G3 end the selection of core samples for purposes
of laboratory testing. These samples were seated to preserve the molstuns content oI the
' materials to be tested. The Indlvldual logs are summarized In Appendix II.
c) PermeabUity measurements within the Indlvldual loll units. Piezometers placed In holes G2
' and G3 enabled permeability estimates to be matle for the allwlum. A stand pipe
plezometer was sealed within the Santa Fe formation within hole Gt thereby enabling
estlrnates of permeability to be recorded. Appendix II shows the Installation procedure
' employed for the Individual plezometers. The falling head test was employed to estlritate
the permeability for the Indlvldual Boll units.
d) Laboratory testing on the eollan and fanglomerate materials that comprise the Santa Fe
unit. This consisted of:
t 1) shear strength estimates for the eollan units. Trlaxial testing an thH eollan Sente Fe
was performed In an undralned satureted state with pore pressures being ,
' recorded. This was considered [o best reflect field conditions.
The eollan material was the weakest and most abundant Unit observed wfthlh the
' Santa Fe unit (Hole Gt),
' 2) permeability measurements.
3) dotarmining the moisture content, elakablll[y and size distribution
' RIA
MAT
ROPERTIES
3.0
E
L P
' Figure 2 shows drill section 2,046,500E and the Indivdual soil units observed.
