Exhibit "E" Continued
Shale outcrops do not naturally occur in this permit area, indicatrng
that there is little likelihood of encountering an underlying shale
Eloew. At least a foot of gravel or overburden will be left. or replaced
for later coverage of topsoil and seeding.
The excavated material will then be segregated and removed from the site
6y truck. A grizzly screen will be utilized to segregate mined material.
Afaximum production would be approximately 5,000 tons per day.
Exhibit "C-2" indicated the alignment shich the haul road will take,
tying into the existing gravel pit road, which affords access to the
paved Orchard Mesa Landfill Road, and U.S. Highway 50, all of which are
included in the primary haul route. Improvements to the haul road will
include grading for proper drainage and surfacing with crushed rock.
Installation of drainage structures for the haul road is not required.
Given the maximum extraction production coupled with available trucks, it
is extimated that a maximum of 15t) loads per day will utilize the haul
route. Two types of trucks will be used: ten yard d+.imp trucks with a
fifteen ton capacity, and ten yard dump trucks with six yard pups
attached with a twenty five ton capacity.
In order to control dust on the hual road, and to maintain stockpiles,
materials will be treated with a dust control solution. Dust control
measures will be conducted on an as-needed basis during the hauling (rl9J-)
periods. The operator has water storage tanks in the current permit
area, which the haul route goes through, and water will be hauled in i
periodically to utilize for the dust control process.
Material stockpiles are stabilized with a chemical surfactant, which trill
not only control dust but also deter erosion, while the graveled h•~ul
roads are primarily stabilized with an application of magnesium chloride.
These dust control methods are acceptable for this application and will
be used in lieu of more frequent water application.
Total life of the operation is dependent upon surrounding communities'
gravel needs. However, based upon assumed projections, it is expected
that extraction will occur over a fifteen year period. Operations will
begin immediately upon permit issuance by the MLRB.
