~e
C
MINING PLAN
- _.. .
The topsoil and vegetation will be removed from the permit area using scrapers.
The topsoil will be stockpiled for reclamation on the north side of the haul road
and seeded to stabilize the stockpile.
Extraction from the pit area will commence on the west end of the permit area
with mining conducted in either a north to south or south to north direction.
The material will be extracted from a wet pit by the use of either a dragline or
a backhoe. The wet material will be piled into a windrow to allow the water to
drain. After a few days when the material has drained sufficiently, the material
will be loaded by a front end loader onto conveyors for processing by the sand
and gravel plant. During the mining operation, the sand and gravel will be
extracted to the underlying blue shale which occurs approximately 25 to 30 feet
beneath the surface.
As the material is mined and processed any waste materials, primarily the fine
factions, will be returned to the pond created by the mining for reclamation.
After processing in the crushing-screening plant, the finished material will
be loaded into trucks by a front end loader and hauled from the area via the haul
road.
!
