BLM Recommended Seed Mixture and Specificafions <br />The following seed mixture is.generally approved for use within the pinonfjuniperlsagebrush <br />environment found in the Naturita/Uravan, Colorado area. If the total number of species used is less <br />than that specified below, the seeding rates for the individual species used must be adjusted. The <br />application rates specfed are for pure live seed (PLS). All seed tags must be submitted to the <br />Authorized Officer fo"r verification following the seeding application. <br />Species Application <br /> <br />Scientific Name <br />Common Name Rate (PLS) <br />unds/acre <br />Pascopyrum smithii Arriba western wheatgrass 2.5 <br />Elymus el}rmoides Bottfebrush squirreltail 2.0 <br />Hilaria jamesii Galleta grass 1.2 <br />Oryzopsis hymenoides Paloma Indian ricegrass 0.8 <br />Sporobolus cryptandrus Sand dropseed 0.1 <br />Agropyron trachycaulum Primer slender wheatgrass 2.4 <br />SG'pa somata Needleandthread grass 0.8 <br /> <br />Penstemon strictus Rodry Mountain penstemon 0.1 <br /> <br />Sphaeralcea parvrfolia or <br />Sphaeralcea coccinea Scarlet or Parvifolia globemallow 0.1 <br />Ceratoides Janata Winterfat 0.1 <br />Arfemisia tridentata Bi sa ebrush 0.1 <br />• • Total unds r acre 10.6 <br /> <br />Seed shall be drilled '/. to % inch deep following the contour. ff areas cannot be drill seeded, seed <br />shall be broadcast at 2.0 times the application rate specified and covered using a harrow or drag bar. <br />Seeding shall be completed during one of the following time periods: <br />• For best resuks, between October 15 and consistent ground freeze; or <br />• Between August 1 and August 31. <br />Revegetation efforts on the disturbed areas will be considered satisfactory when: <br />• Soil erosion resulting from the operation has been stabilized; and <br />• The seeding will be repeated until a satisfactory stand is established as determined by the <br />authorized officer. Evaluation of growth will not be made before completion of the second <br />growing season after seeding. The authorized officer is to be notified a minimum of iwo days <br />prior to seeding of the project. Mulch and hay shall also be certified noxious weed free. <br />
