Loams and sandy loams that are shallow to moderately deep <br />over gravel or cobble and contain a great deal of such material <br />In the profile are typical. Some are quite Ilmy, but do not <br />have the strony lime zone near Che surface that characterizes <br />• the Limy Bench range site. They are rapidly drained and have <br />a low water-storage capacity. But they can often utilize most <br />of the scant rainfall, and therefore, grow similar vegetation <br />to a few deeper, less gravelly or cobbly soils In the site. <br />b.
